James Victor is one of the finest character actors on the Hollywood scene and now with "Zorro" that reputation will encompass an international recognition based on years of hard work and fine performances on stage, screen, and television. His important work in motion pictures include "Losin' It" as as shady lawyer opposite Shelley Long and "Borderline" in which he co-starred as Mirandez, the truck driver importing more than tomatoes across the border in the Charles Bronson thriller. In "Rolling Thunder," he gave William Devane a bad time as Lopez, a barroom brawler and played an enraged father in last year's critically acclaimed Oscar nominated film "Stand and Deliver." |
On televison he has starred in two series,
"Viva Valdez" and "Condo." The actor has made guest
appearances on "Falcon Crest," "Remington Steele," and "I
Married Dora." On the Los Angeles stage, Victor garnished excellent notices for his performances in the plays "Bullfight" and in Luis Valdez's "I Don't Have to Show You No Stinkin' Badges." |

Born in the Dominican Republic on July 27, 1939, Victor
emigrated with his family to New York City when he was a
child. It was in New York that he caught the acting bug. He
was influenced by Miriam Colon's bilingual theatre company of
which he became a member and received his early training. The
other major influence in his life was the late John Cassavetes
with whom he held a deep friendship and profound professional
respect.
