ZORRO:  THE LEGEND

It was only yesteryear when Los Angeles was a small village surrounded by desert wilderness.  This wild and untamed land is governed by the ALCALDE (Michael Tylo), a corrupt dictator whose word is law and whose law is absolute.  Only one man is courageous enough to take a stand against the injustices of the cruel Alcalde:  a masked rider named ZORRO (Duncan Regehr).
With his trademark whip and sword, he is everywhere and nowhere, quick to defend the innocent and attack the guilty.  And always he leaves his trademark symbol, a 'Z,' the mark of Zorro.

No one can guess Zorro's true identity:  not the ALCALDE, as hard as he tries, not the lovely tavern keeper VICTORIA (Patrice Camhi) who is in love with him, not even the wealthy landowner DON ALEJANDRO (Efrem Zimbalist, Jr.) who is his father.  Only FELIPE (Juan Diego Botto), a deaf-mute servant, knows that his master DON DIEGO is Zorro - the hero no one can unmask.

ZORRO:  SYNOPSIS

In the early 1800s, the pueblo of Los Angeles was plagued with the problems of the frontier, including drought, earthquakes, lawlessness, and municipal corruption.  This untamed world is beautifully recreated outside Madrid, Spain, for The Family Channel production of "Zorro."
Victoria in front of the tavern with Zorro above on the second floor balcony Zorro is the original caped crusader, a man of mystery and intrigue who fights injustice with cunning.  He is the master swordsman, a handsome hero.

A special two-hour movie will air during the initial run of the series detailing the origin of Zorro.

Zorro is assisted in his escapades by his faithful friend Felipe, a deaf-mute who conceals Zorro's identity and supports his crime-fighting deeds.

The character of Victoria is beautiful and brave.  She runs the local inn and is caught up in her deep love for Zorro.  She has only a friendship with Don Diego.

The introduction of Zorro's father provides humor and humanity.  Don Alejandro, who is very close to his son, remains unaware that the young man is Zorro.

Much of the humor derives from the character of Sgt. Mendoza.  Mendoza is a lovable buffoon, an innocent man caught up in his loyalty to his evil boss, the Alcalde, and his hero-worship of Zorro.  Pies end up more often on his face than in his stomach.  He is constantly being tricked and foiled.
